L3Harris and Shield AI Complete Autonomous Electronic Warfare Flight Test
MELBOURNE, Fla., July 16, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) and Shield AI have successfully conducted the initial flight test of their autonomous electromagnetic battle management system, known as Distributed Spectrum Collaboration and Operations (DiSCO™), in conjunction with Shield AI’s Hivemind mission-autonomy software.
Executed on an L3Harris Green Wolf™, this flight demonstration represents a major advancement in autonomous electronic warfare technology, following a previous simulated test in February 2026. During this live flight test, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) were able to detect, analyze, and respond to electromagnetic threats autonomously, without human intervention. The onboard Hivemind software directed the Green Wolf using threat data from DiSCO, enabling it to automatically reroute subsequent unmanned systems through a safe operational zone.
“This successful demonstration illustrates the rapid transformation of concepts into operational capabilities for the joint force,” commented Lauren Barnes, President of Spectrum Superiority, Communications & Spectrum Dominance at L3Harris. “By integrating autonomous decision-making with advanced spectrum management, we empower warfighters with the resilience and speed necessary to counteract rapidly evolving threats.”
The flight test incorporated the compact, software-defined Deceptor™ electronic warfare payload, deployed across multiple UAS. This scenario confirmed the UAS’s capability to detect and characterize unidentified threats, share vital data through DiSCO, and utilize Hivemind to autonomously guide follow-on UAS safely in real time.
Christian Gutierrez, Senior Vice President of Hivemind at Shield AI, stated, “L3Harris provides some of the most advanced electronic warfare capabilities globally. The combination of DiSCO and Hivemind on the Green Wolf achieved outcomes that each system could not deliver independently. This flight test demonstrated that Hivemind can drastically shorten the sensor-to-decision cycle, enabling autonomous systems to quickly sense, share, and respond to spectrum threats. We are excited to continue to expand this capability with L3Harris.”
The demonstration also featured an L3Harris Green Wolf launched effects system, providing both electronic attack features and advanced detection capabilities. This further validated Green Wolf’s multi-mission role in supporting distributed and networked electronic warfare operations.
L3Harris and Shield AI plan to continue exploring mission applications and enhancing autonomy through an open architecture designed for electronic warfare at the tactical edge.
