L3Harris Opens Next‑Generation Solid Rocket Motor Facility to Boost Production Capacity

CAMDEN, Ark., Oct. 20, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has officially inaugurated its new Arsenal of Freedom solid rocket motor production facility in Camden, Arkansas. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to double the existing production capacity, with provisions for future expansion.

The facility, along with additional propellant processing installations, will facilitate production for the U.S. Army’s Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS). It centralizes the manufacturing of solid rocket motors that underpin the surface-to-surface precision fire capabilities.

This development aligns with a $216 million cooperative agreement established with the Department of War in 2023, aimed at addressing the rising demand for tactical missiles, which include the Javelin, Stinger, and GMLRS systems. The agreement encompasses building new facilities in Camden and Orange County, Virginia, along with upgrades to equipment and digital systems at the Huntsville, Alabama, locations.

Michael P. Duffey, Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment, remarked, “Rocket propulsion is a vital national security capability. This state-of-the-art facility enhances L3Harris’ capabilities and signifies a critical enhancement in solid rocket motor production capacity, ensuring that our joint forces and allies maintain a secure supply chain for precision munitions to support our warfighters.”

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders highlighted, “The opening of this facility is a reminder that Camden, Arkansas, is a key player in the defense industry and an essential part of the Arsenal of Freedom. I’m excited to see this new facility officially open, where rockets will soon be produced. This is a significant achievement for Camden, Arkansas, and the United States.”

Ken Bedingfield, President of Missile Solutions at L3Harris, emphasized, “This new facility marks a significant advance in strengthening the solid rocket motor industrial base that our nation and its allies urgently require. It exemplifies effective government-industry collaboration and represents a model for expansion that integrates advanced automation and digital manufacturing to improve production speed, quality, and reliability for our warfighters.”

Senator John Boozman, R-Ark., noted, “Increasing the capacity to produce solid rocket motors is crucial for ensuring that our soldiers are equipped to defend our nation. L3Harris’ investment in Camden underscores our commitment to enhancing the region’s capabilities and the establishment of a new workforce training center to bolster Camden’s role in America’s defense industrial base.”

Similarly, Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark., remarked, “L3Harris’ new facility is an important investment that reinforces Arkansas as the defense capital of America. This ongoing expansion will create new jobs and provide the critical tools necessary for our country’s safety.”

Representative Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., stated, “This new production facility enhances the vital role of the Fourth District as a powerhouse in defense manufacturing, and it is essential for reinforcing our national security infrastructure while providing local job opportunities.”

Arkansas Secretary of Commerce Hugh McDonald expressed pride in Camden’s ascent as a critical hub for aerospace and defense manufacturing. He stated, “L3Harris’ commitment to producing essential armaments at the Highland Industrial Park is a substantial milestone that benefits not only Camden and Arkansas but the entire nation.”

L3Harris is significantly investing in its operations across Arkansas, California, Virginia, and Alabama, with plans to build approximately 60 new facilities and enhance production capabilities for key defense programs.
