Vegvisir Launches Revolutionary Battlefield Communications Module, Extending Its Reach to Air, Sea, and Submarine Operations

Vegvisir: Revolutionizing Military Communications and Situational Awareness

Vegvisir, an innovative Estonian defense technology company, is set to unveil groundbreaking advancements at Eurosatory 2026. Among the highlights is the launch of a cutting-edge Communications Module, designed to enable military platforms to automatically switch between communication networks, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity in contested scenarios. Additionally, Vegvisir is expanding its renowned situational awareness and command platform to encompass air, maritime, and underwater systems, paving the way for comprehensive operational support.

CEO Ingvar Pärnamäe emphasizes the vital lessons learned from the Ukraine conflict, noting the necessity for reliable communication solutions. With battlefield communications increasingly reliant on multiple technologies, Vegvisir’s innovations aim to address fragmentation and enhance connectivity.

“Initially, Vegvisir focused on enabling operators and commanders to visualize and manage both manned and unmanned assets in real time. However, we repeatedly heard the same concern: while Vegvisir offers incredible tools, a reliable connection is essential. Thus, the Communications Module was developed to meet this demand,” Pärnamäe stated.

The state-of-the-art Communications Module intelligently manages multiple channels, including 5G, 4G, Starlink, MANET MESH radios, and fiber optic solutions. In the event a preferred network is down, the system seamlessly transitions to backup connections, ensuring continuous communication in challenging environments.

Featuring dual modems with failover capabilities across various LAN and WAN links, the system operates efficiently alongside fiber optics. Its rugged, IP68-rated design ensures durability in harsh conditions, while integrated omnidirectional antennas eliminate the need for external installation, enhancing convenience and reliability.

This innovative solution has already gained its first European customer, a significant milestone in Vegvisir’s growth.

Enhanced Situational Awareness Across Various Domains

Vegvisir’s second pivotal innovation broadens the situational awareness and command platform’s capabilities beyond land operations. Initially tailored for ground systems, Vegvisir’s platform now seamlessly integrates with aerial, maritime, and underwater assets, offering operators and commanders a cohesive view across multiple operational domains.

The Vegvisir Ecosystem: A Vision for the Future

The new capabilities signify Vegvisir’s broader vision for modern warfare. The company’s CORE solution offers crews of manned vehicles a mixed-reality “see-through-armor” feature, while NANO enhances situational awareness for unmanned platforms and FPV operations. Both solutions are designed to integrate with Vegvisir’s Virtual Command Station, facilitating management of diverse assets through a common operational environment using proprietary tools like the Visor headset and the Mission Grip controller.

By synthesizing low-latency video feeds, sensor data, and mission information into a cohesive operational picture, the platform empowers operators and commanders to make informed decisions swiftly in complex and rapidly evolving scenarios.

Vegvisir’s largest customer to date is the Australian Army, harnessing the company’s technology in trials involving optionally manned and unmanned M113 armored vehicles. Furthermore, Vegvisir’s solutions are currently being tested or deployed across nine nations, including Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The company is actively seeking opportunities to validate its cutting-edge technology in Ukraine, where the rapid adoption of unmanned systems is reshaping the future of warfare.
