U.S. Marine Corps Unleashes Next-Gen Autonomous Firepower with Oshkosh Defense’s ROGUE-Fires Block 2 Initiative
Oshkosh Defense LLC, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation [NYSE: OSK], has announced the acquisition of two delivery orders from the U.S. Marine Corps for the Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary Fires (ROGUE-Fires) Block 2 Production, amounting to $92 million.
The ROGUE-Fires platform is built on the proven Oshkosh Defense Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), seamlessly integrating next-generation autonomous technology. This advanced system is designed to provide the mobility, protection, speed, and off-road capabilities essential for Marines operating in challenging environments.
Since being awarded the ROGUE-Fires contract in 2022, this platform has emerged as the U.S. military’s first semi-autonomous ground system. ROGUE-Fires stands out as the only operational semi-autonomous ground system for both offensive and defensive fire missions, marking a significant milestone in military advancements.
The Block 2 configuration enhances this innovative system by integrating Forterra’s state-of-the-art autonomy and expanding weapon system capabilities for Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) and long-range precision fires missions.
“As the Marine Corps enhances its operational capabilities, Oshkosh is committed to providing cutting-edge ground mobility solutions to ensure mission success,” remarked Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer at Oshkosh Defense. “ROGUE-Fires Block 2 exemplifies our ability to incorporate advanced technologies into reliable tactical vehicles while maximizing flexibility.”
Designed with a Modular Open System Approach, ROGUE-Fires allows for integration with the MLRS Family of Munitions (MFOM) and enables quick adaptation of payload weapon systems to meet mission demands. This flexibility equips Marines for evolving expeditionary fires missions and beyond.
Forterra’s AutoDrive autonomous driving system is specifically engineered to excel in contested and GPS-denied environments.
Vehicle deliveries under this contract are projected to extend through 2031, solidifying the ongoing partnership between Oshkosh Defense and the U.S. Marine Corps.
