Elbit Systems Expands Its E LynX™ SDR Family with a New Unified Connectivity Capability Linking Soldiers and Unmanned Platforms | Elbit Systems
Elbit Systems Ltd. has introduced the E-LynX™ UxS, expanding its E-LynX™ Software Defined Radio (SDR) family. This innovative solution facilitates seamless connectivity between manned and unmanned aerial and ground platforms, fostering a consolidated and secure communication network. The unveiling of this new technology is taking place at the ILA exhibition in Berlin.
The E-LynX™ UxS is specifically crafted to address the rising requirements for multi-domain operations, delivering continuous, high-bandwidth, and resilient connectivity for unmanned systems. It efficiently supports telemetry, command-and-control data, and payload data, including video and sensor feeds.
As a key component of the established E-LynX™ family, the E-LynX™ UxS boosts interoperability within the existing E-LynX™ communication systems. It also reduces the workload for soldiers while enhancing situational awareness and coordination throughout the operational theater.
Designed with a compact form factor and optimized for low SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) characteristics, the E-LynX™ UxS can be seamlessly integrated into various unmanned platforms— aerial, ground, and maritime— even those with stringent payload constraints. This integration enables truly coordinated autonomous maneuvering forces across all operational spheres.
When the E-LynX™ UxS is paired with theE-LynX™ SR (Soldier Radio), Elbit Systems creates a cohesive Software Defined Radio ecosystem. This transformation allows autonomous platforms to function as integral components of the maneuvering force, making Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) a practical reality and enhancing the modern combat network’s strategic advantage.
Central to the operation of the E-LynX™ UxS is Elbit Systems’ advanced Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) architecture. This technology empowers each platform to act as both a network participant and a relay node for other E-LynX™ radios, ensuring resilient connectivity even in dense or contested environments. Additionally, it significantly enhances operational range and coverage through aerial and terrestrial relay nodes, allowing direct soldier control over unmanned systems while extending the network’s reach.
As modern warfare transforms into a more digital and autonomous landscape, maintaining secure and uninterrupted connectivity has become essential. The E-LynX™ UxS stands as a robust communications backbone for MUM-T operations, equipping commanders and soldiers with real-time information sharing and operational oversight of unmanned systems.
