During the ILA Air Show in Germany, Elbit Systems Ltd. announced a strategic partnership with Diehl Defence, aiming to jointly present the SkyStriker advanced loitering munition system to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Should they secure the contract, the partnership will oversee production and support of the system.
The SkyStriker is engineered as an autonomous, long-range loitering munition capable of locating, tracking, and engaging operator-designated high-value targets with precision. Leveraging significant operational experience from various international programs, this system delivers versatility, lethality, and advanced autonomy to fulfill diverse mission requirements, including “seek and strike” operations and border protection.
With the ability to accommodate a 10-kilogram warhead, loiter for more than two hours, and achieve an operational range exceeding 200 kilometers, the SkyStriker offers high-precision strike capabilities. It can be launched from a variety of platforms, including land vehicles, the EuroPULS rocket launcher, naval vessels, containers, and aircraft, thereby providing significant operational flexibility across multiple domains.
Elbit Systems, along with its German subsidiary Elbit Systems Deutschland and Diehl Defence, plans to merge their complementary technologies, industrial capabilities, and deep operational expertise to deliver a high-performance, mature loitering munition solution tailored to Germany’s defense and modernization needs. This collaboration is poised to address Germany’s increasing demand for cutting-edge loitering munition systems, particularly in the expansion of autonomous precision-strike and reconnaissance functionalities.
The strategic partnership also incorporates local manufacturing, assembly, integration, and qualification activities at Diehl Defence, contingent upon the awarding of relevant programs, thus bolstering the development of sovereign capabilities and reinforcing the German defense industry.
This collaboration underscores the escalating demand for advanced, precise, and flexible loitering munition systems, aligning with Germany’s objective to enhance its capabilities significantly in this sector.
