Lockheed Martin Unveils Cutting-Edge Facility to Enhance America’s Defense with THAAD Interceptor Production Boost
Lockheed Martin has officially inaugurated a new Munitions Production Center in Troy, Alabama, reinforcing its commitment to bolstering munitions production for the United States and its allies. The new Building 47 will offer an additional 87,000 square feet of production space, dedicated to manufacturing Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptors as well as future initiatives involving the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI). With an investment exceeding $9 billion allocated through 2030, Lockheed Martin is actively addressing the increasing munitions demands, including this state-of-the-art facility alongside more than 20 others nationwide.
This expansion is set to nearly double the facility’s existing production area and is projected to create numerous job opportunities for Americans in the coming three years, contributing to the nearly 4,000 Lockheed Martin employees already present in Alabama.
