Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH and GEK TERNA S.A. sign partnership agreement
Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH and GEK TERNA S.A. have announced a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering Greece’s defense capabilities while strengthening the country’s sovereign industrial base in the defense sector.
This initiative follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed in the fourth quarter of 2025, which has now evolved into a long-term binding Strategic Framework Agreement. This agreement unites GEK TERNA’s prominent position in critical infrastructure, energy, and industrial investments throughout South-Eastern Europe with Rheinmetall’s extensive portfolio of land systems and defense technologies.
The collaboration lays the groundwork for significant industrial cooperation within Greece, resulting in substantial local value addition, sustainable capability development, and advancements in technology over the long term. The two companies plan to leverage their combined expertise to meet changing operational demands and to provide reliable, high-quality integrated defense solutions, ensuring the progressive growth of Greece’s defense industrial ecosystem.
Through this partnership, the Hellenic Armed Forces are set to receive state-of-the-art capabilities, which will include new tactical land systems and lifecycle maintenance and upgrades for existing assets. A key goal of this collaboration is to systematically develop robust industrial capabilities within the Hellenic Army’s existing facilities while actively involving Greek small and medium-sized enterprises. By gradually establishing domestic production, integration, maintenance, and support capabilities, the partnership aims to enhance Greece’s long-term operational self-reliance, bolster institutional expertise, and secure the sovereign capacity to maintain critical defense capabilities throughout their entire lifecycle.
