L3Harris Delivers Life-Saving Robotic Systems to Keep Australian Defence Personnel Out of Harm’s Way
ADELAIDE, Australia, May 19, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has successfully delivered state-of-the-art robotic systems aimed at enhancing the safety of personnel in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). These advanced technologies are specifically engineered to undertake perilous tasks, including the neutralization of explosive devices and the management of hazardous materials.
The innovative robotics technology enables operators to maintain a safe distance when engaged in high-risk missions. With the delivery of the T4 and T7 multi-mission robotic systems, ADF personnel are now equipped to detect, inspect, and neutralize threats without exposing themselves to direct danger.
“Simply put, these robots save lives,” stated Ian Charles, Managing Director of Global Spectrum Superiority Australia at L3Harris. “When an ADF operator employs one of these systems to assess a suspicious device or clear a hazardous route, they are significantly better protected from potential harm. With sustainment operations established in Brisbane, we are committed to ensuring this technology remains operationally ready while bolstering Australia’s sovereign defence capability.”
ADF personnel have undergone extensive training at RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland and the Defence Explosive Ordnance Training School in Sydney, fully preparing them to deploy these life-saving systems in real-world scenarios.
The robotic fleet from L3Harris has been delivered under a 2023 contract, aligned with the DEF08101 program. This initiative is focused on enhancing explosive ordnance disposal capabilities, enabling safer operations for the neutralization, exploitation, and clearance of improvised explosive devices that previously posed significant risks to personnel.
