L3Harris Introduces the XL Converge 300P Portable Public Safety Radio
In both large gatherings at sporting events or intimate excursions off-trail, ensuring safety remains paramount. Essential to this mission is reliable connectivity and interoperability. When urgent action is required, the technology must perform effectively.
Addressing the needs of safety professionals, L3Harris has introduced the XL Converge 300P, a groundbreaking portable radio. This new radio is the first of its kind to offer both 5G and Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) connectivity within a single device.
A Revolutionary Step in Mission-Critical Communication
The XL Converge 300P succeeds the XL Converge 200P, which has been widely adopted by various public safety organizations and federal agencies since its launch in 2015. Owing to L3Harris’s engineering excellence and robust construction, many users are still actively using the XL 200P, underscoring its trustworthiness and longevity.
“The XL-300P feature set is not a simple refresh and will prove to be an overwhelming upgrade over the 200P,” stated James Potter, Director of Product Management at L3Harris. “A combination of engineering breakthroughs and observed customer need made it clear that we were ready to introduce a new flagship device with heightened capabilities.”
Certified to FIPS 140-3 Level 3, the XL-300P meets the latest U.S. government standards for secure, encrypted communication. This radio system enables smart switching between P25, LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, and satellite communication networks.
Engineered for extreme use cases, the XL-300P aims to address significant coverage gaps, particularly in rural regions and challenging terrains.
Advanced Design for Today’s Challenges

The capabilities of the XL-300P extend beyond communications to include the ruggedness of the XL Extreme™ 400P model. Its design features a textured finish, integrated keypad, enhanced knob sensitivity, and Corning® Gorilla® Glass displays, all meeting rigorous durability standards.
Customers can place orders for the XL-300P now, with shipments anticipated to begin in July 2026. The initial software upgrade will follow soon after shipping, with further updates set to roll out later in 2026.
