Introducing EDGE Europe: A Revolutionary Approach to Shaping European Defense Solutions
EDGE, an Abu Dhabi-based advanced technology and defense group, proudly announces the launch of EDGE Europe, a new commercial entity headquartered in Paris. This innovative company is set to revolutionize defense capability development through its technology-first approach, rapid development, and a partner-driven ecosystem aimed at delivering sovereign defense solutions more efficiently than traditional methods can provide.
As part of its long-term commitment, EDGE Europe’s operational base in France marks a significant milestone. The launch is centered around two pivotal locations: a state-of-the-art head office located in the prestigious Chaillot district of central Paris, dedicated to fostering government engagement, partnerships, and regional investment, and an advanced engineering and manufacturing hub situated in Bordeaux. This hub is vital for the design, integration, and swift development of cutting-edge systems, tapping into Bordeaux’s rich aerospace and defense industrial base, complemented by a robust supply chain focused on propulsion, composites, and avionics, alongside numerous leading universities and research institutions.
H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Chairman of EDGE Group, emphasized the crucial moment Europe faces in its defense landscape, stating: “EDGE is here to contribute to Europe’s security future. Our mission is to invest in European talent, collaborate closely with local industries, and cultivate enduring capabilities on the continent. The next decade’s pivotal defense capabilities will emerge from efforts that embrace innovation, speed, and ambition. EDGE Europe combines the agility of a modern defense company with the solid foundation of an established industrial player, working in partnership with our collaborators. This is the evolution Europe’s defense sector needs, and we aim to lead this transformative journey.”
Al Bannai continued, noting the resilient partnership built over decades between the UAE and France. “Establishing our headquarters in Paris symbolizes our commitment to deepening this bond, as we endeavor to create partnerships across the continent that reflect our enduring relationship.”
EDGE offers an extensive array of capabilities to Europe, including autonomous systems, air, naval, and ground platforms, propulsion technology, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, as well as advanced sensors and communications. This integrated approach positions EDGE Europe to deliver the connected, multi-domain solutions that today’s defense environment demands. By collaborating with established primes, emerging defense technology firms, universities, and research centers, EDGE Europe plans to enhance capabilities and invest strategically to strengthen European industry.
Furthermore, EDGE Europe aims to nurture and develop local talent, generating high-skilled engineering and industrial positions while producing cutting-edge technology for both regional and international clients.
The aspirations of EDGE in Europe are already taking shape through a robust industrial framework, highlighted by strategic acquisitions such as Milrem Robotics (Estonia), Anavia (Switzerland), and Flaris (Poland), alongside planned ventures like the acquisition of CMD in Italy. Partnerships with industry leaders like Fincantieri, Indra Sistemas, Leonardo, and Safran further amplify EDGE Europe’s capacity to provide reliable solutions from day one, reinforcing European supply chains and ensuring sovereign access to essential capabilities.
