Lockheed Martin Secures Up to $1.9 Billion from Pentagon for Ongoing C-130J Maintenance and Training Initiative
The Pentagon has awarded Lockheed Martin a significant 10-year sole-source, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract, potentially worth up to $1.9 billion, to enhance the C-130J Maintenance and Aircrew Training System (MATS) program.
This IDIQ contract facilitates the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center in providing extensive aircrew and maintenance training devices and services for C-130J aircrews. This includes a comprehensive range of support such as courseware, operations, logistics support, and engineering services.
“This contract award signifies nearly 30 years of the C-130J program and highlights the robust partnership between the U.S. Government, Lockheed Martin, and our industry collaborators,” stated Todd Morar, Vice President of Air and Commercial Solutions at Lockheed Martin. “This contract underscores the vital role of the C-130J MATS program in delivering 21st Century Security solutions, ensuring mission readiness for C-130J operational units across the U.S. military.”
The C-130J MATS program currently serves various branches, including U.S. Air Mobility Command, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve Command, U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force Special Operations Command, and Air Education and Training Command. With the new C-130J MATS IV IDIQ contract, support for aircrews will also extend to the U.S. Navy Reserve and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Renowned worldwide as the premier choice for tactical airlift, the C-130J Super Hercules operates in 28 nations. Over 560 C-130Js have been delivered and certified by more than 20 airworthiness authorities, with the global fleet surpassing an impressive 3 million flight hours.
