Hanwha recognized on Fast Company’s 2026 Next Big Things in Tech list
Hanwha has announced that EnergyFluo™, an agentic AI Energy Management System (EMS) developed by TransGrid Energy, a Hanwha Group subsidiary, has been recognized in Fast Company’s 2026 Next Big Things in Tech. This annual list celebrates breakthrough technologies that are driving significant innovation and shaping the future landscape of technology.
Selected in the Applied AI category, EnergyFluo™ addresses the complexities faced by data centers and large-load facilities. Through the use of agentic AI, physics-based equipment models, and digitized operating procedures, the system analyzes real-time data across various parameters including power generation, battery storage, cooling, and IT loads. This helps operators optimize energy utilization, resulting in operational cost savings ranging from 5% to 25%, varying by site configuration. Importantly, while the system enhances operational efficiency, human operators retain control over crucial decision-making. Notably, EnergyFluo™ was among the first AI-enabled products globally to obtain certification under UL 3115, the Outline of Investigation for Safety of AI-Based Products, in March 2026.
Fast Company has underscored the machine learning and large language model (LLM)-driven capabilities of EnergyFluo™, which autonomously monitors data center operations, analyzes potential issues, and determines optimal responses to enhance power consumption. The technology’s real-world application was exemplified by Prime Group’s nationwide deployment of edge data centers utilizing EnergyFluo™.
Dr. Youngchoon Park, CEO of TransGrid Energy, stated: “Data centers have become some of the most complex energy systems on the grid, and they can no longer be managed one site at a time. EnergyFluo™ orchestrates grid, storage and on-site generation as one system and optimizes the load behind them, allowing operators to effectively leverage more megawatts for IT operations from a unified, intelligent view.”
Fast Company’s Next Big Things in Tech honors emerging technologies from established companies, startups, and research teams that show promising advancements toward transforming consumer, business, and societal landscapes. This year’s selection spans various industries, showcasing innovations capable of creating significant impact in the near future.
Brendan Vaughan, editor-in-chief of Fast Company, remarked: “The most exciting technology innovations are the ones that move beyond promise to demonstrate real potential for impact. The companies and teams recognized on this year’s list are tackling ambitious problems with new ideas, products, and approaches that have the potential to fundamentally shape the years ahead.”
