L3Harris Technologies Appoints Sam Mehta, Proven Aerospace and Defense Executive, as President and Chief Executive Officer

MELBOURNE, Fla., Aug. 17, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has announced the appointment of Sam Mehta as President and Chief Executive Officer, alongside his position on the Board of Directors. Lewis Hay III will step into the role of Independent Chairman of the Board, while Christopher Kubasik has resigned from his positions as Chairman and CEO, effective immediately.

Sam Mehta, who joined L3Harris in 2023, brings over 25 years of strategic and operational leadership experience within the aerospace and defense sectors. Previously, he served as President of the Space & Mission Systems (SMS) and Communications & Spectrum Dominance (CSD) segments, which contribute to over 80% of L3Harris’ total revenue, focusing on integrated, mission-critical solutions across various domains including space, air, land, sea, and cyber.

Lewis Hay commented on Mehta’s appointment, stating, “Sam is a proven executive with a profound understanding of our business, priorities, and culture. His selection as President and CEO comes at a crucial time for our company and our nation.”

Mehta expressed his gratitude for the role, emphasizing his commitment to collaborating closely with L3Harris’ senior leadership and workforce to meet the needs of the United States and its allies. He noted, “L3Harris is well-positioned for the future of warfare, executing a focused growth strategy as The Trusted Disruptor.”

In conjunction with Mehta’s new position, Lauren Barnes has been appointed President of SMS, and Christopher Aebli has become President of CSD, both effective immediately. L3Harris continues to prioritize its $3 billion capital buildout under the leadership of Kenneth Bedingfield, President of Missile Solutions, aimed at enhancing solid rocket motor production and strengthening supply chains.

Details on Kubasik’s Departure

Hay remarked on Kubasik’s contributions, acknowledging that he oversaw substantial transitions at L3Harris, fostering a strong team for future advancement. However, it was mutually agreed that this succession plan was the appropriate course of action given recent conduct not aligning with company values, which was unrelated to financial reporting or operational performance. Following a thorough investigation, the Board concluded that a separation agreement with Kubasik was in the Company’s best interest.
