Major order for seven field hospitals for the Kingdom of Morocco

Rheinmetall is making strides in expanding its footprint within the global mobile medical facilities market, marking a notable achievement in North Africa. In June 2026, Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH entered into a contract with the Kingdom of Morocco, consisting of the delivery of seven highly mobile field hospitals. One of these hospitals will be utilized by the Moroccan Ministry of Defence, while the remaining six are designated for the Ministry of the Interior.

The financial terms of the contract fall in the mid double-digit million-euro range, with deliveries planned for 2027 to 2028. A local medical equipment distributor will oversee the processing and delivery of these systems to Morocco.

Extremely Mobile and Self-Sufficient Medical Facilities

The field hospitals are distinguished by their remarkable mobility: they are fully mounted on trucks for rapid deployment and can be augmented with military tents for operations off the vehicles.

This contract is rooted in the highly mobile field hospitals engineered by Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH, which are currently employed effectively by the Ukrainian armed forces. These hospitals are designed to endure significant transportation challenges and extreme military environmental conditions.

Advanced Treatment Centers Equipped with Modern Technology

The core of the Moroccan field hospitals features an operating theatre complex (OT complex) that comprises several self-sufficient functional units:

  • Modern operating theatre
  • Intensive care unit
  • Sterilisation unit

These expandable structures are crafted as specialized containers with extendable sections that transform into fully functional medical treatment centers upon setup. The assembly and disassembly times for these facilities are notably short.

Surrounding the core center, patient accommodation and essential facilities include an X-ray station, pharmacy, and laboratory. The hospitals will also feature specialized departments such as eye clinics, dentistry, ENT, and a CT scanner.

Designed for autonomous operation in both field settings and urban environments, these systems can function independently for a designated period, equipped with their own power, water, and oxygen supplies. Additionally, the comprehensive delivery package includes military accommodations and sanitation facilities.

A Significant Impact on Saving Lives

Armin Krenn, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH, underscores the project’s strategic and humanitarian significance, stating, “We are delighted to have secured this follow-up order for our field hospitals and to be engaging in cooperation in the North African region. Our systems not only save lives in military conflicts but also play a pivotal role in maintaining acute care when local and stationary hospitals are unable to operate. Together with our Moroccan customer, we have developed a high-performance, mission-oriented solution for the Royal Medical Service.”
