L3Harris Awarded Solid Rocket Motor Contract with Record Production

MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 12, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has secured a follow-on contract from Lockheed Martin, valued at $250 million, to manufacture standard-range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) propulsion units.

Scott Alexander, President of Propulsion Systems at L3Harris, remarked, “Securing this follow-on award at the highest quantity in program history demonstrates confidence in L3Harris’ missile propulsion expertise and our ability to deliver at scale. With our investments to expand capacity ahead of need, we’re well-positioned to meet this surge while maintaining the quality our customers expect.”

This contract is set to be fulfilled at the new 60,000-square-foot Arsenal of Freedom facility in Camden, Arkansas, which is scheduled to open later this year. This facility aims to centralize production with advanced automation and robotics designed to streamline the entire solid rocket motor manufacturing process.

L3Harris has a longstanding history of producing GMLRS propulsion units and serves as the program’s solid rocket motor provider. The company’s efforts have consistently enhanced the system’s range, reliability, and battlefield performance. Additionally, L3Harris manufactures the electronic safe-and-arm device and proximity sensor for GMLRS, further bolstering the system’s precision and reliability.

In recent years, L3Harris has doubled its output of GMLRS solid rocket motors through advanced manufacturing techniques and processes, thereby expanding capacity to support the U.S. and allied partners.
