
Northrop Grumman Awarded Multiple Year Contract to Produce Advanced Multi-Purpose Tank Ammunition Round
PLYMOUTH, Minn. – June 22, 2026 – The U.S. Army has awarded Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) a five-year contract to produce the M1147 Advanced Multi-Purpose (AMP) round of large caliber tank ammunition. This contract will support both U.S. Army requirements and those of international partners, reinforcing the company’s commitment to maintaining readiness and advancing innovation in munitions.
- The M1147 AMP is a next-generation 120mm round designated for use with the U.S. Army’s M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank.
- AMP consolidates the capabilities of four legacy rounds into a single munition. It employs a multi-mode programmable fuze that allows for operation in point-detonate, point-detonate delay, and airburst modes, thus enabling engagement with a range of targets.
