
General Dynamics NASSCO and South Korean Shipbuilding Leaders DSEC Co. and Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Sign Tri-Party Memorandum of Agreement
General Dynamics NASSCO, a reputable unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), has joined forces with its long-term partner, DSEC Co., Ltd., alongside South Korean industry leaders Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (SHI). The trio has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement to enhance their cooperative efforts in ship design and manufacturing automation technology within the U.S. market.
This partnership aims to further the ambitions of all three entities in various sectors, including commercial and naval shipbuilding, as well as other government projects. Notably, their collaboration will focus on the U.S. Navy’s Next Generation Logistics Ship (NGLS). The agreement capitalizes on decades of shared expertise and achievements in U.S.-South Korean shipbuilding ventures.
General Dynamics NASSCO has established itself as a leading designer and builder of major naval auxiliary and commercial vessels since the 1950s, successfully delivering over 150 vessels to date. Currently, NASSCO is engaged in the construction of the U.S. Navy’s 20-ship class of John Lewis (T-AO 205) Fleet Oilers while also working on the design for the Navy’s future vessels.
