Rheinmetall supplies four Skynex systems to an international customer

Rheinmetall has announced a significant international order for its Skynex air defence systems, representing a key advancement for this cutting-edge technology.

Booked in the second quarter of 2026, the contract holds a value in the range of several hundred million euros and marks the first collaboration with this international customer. This agreement further facilitates Rheinmetall’s efforts to broaden its customer base for the state-of-the-art air defence system.

The contract entails the delivery of four complete Skynex systems, with an overall execution timeline of 39 months. The delivery of the initial Skynex battery is slated to occur 21 months following the contract’s signing, with subsequent batteries scheduled to be delivered every six months afterward.

Key Components of the Agreement

This contract encompasses trucks, ammunition, and an extensive Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) package. Included within the total contract value, the ILS package guarantees operational readiness through specialized training, spare parts, special tools, and consumable provisions.

Rheinmetall Italia will serve as the prime contractor for this initiative, with several key subsidiaries from the Rheinmetall Group collaborating to ensure successful system delivery: Rheinmetall Air Defence, Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles, and Rheinmetall Weapon and Munitions (Switzerland).

Advanced Very Short-Range Air Defence

The Skynex Air Defence System represents a modern, gun-based solution engineered for very short-range defence. It boasts the capability to counter a diverse range of contemporary threats, including Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) and Counter-Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar (C-RAM) missions. This achievement highlights Rheinmetall’s leading position in the development of next-generation short-range air defence technology.
