Lockheed Martin Introduces PAC-3 ACE™ – A High-Performance, Low-Cost Interceptor

PAC-3 ACE costs less than half of PAC-3 MSE

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 20, 2026 — Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has announced the introduction of the PAC-3® Adapted Capability Effector (PAC-3 ACE™), a new low-cost interceptor designed to address a wide spectrum of air and missile threats at under half the price of a PAC-3 MSE per unit.

PAC-3 ACE will enable allied forces to deploy a complementary air defense capability rapidly. To facilitate this, Lockheed Martin will collaborate with American and European industry partners, thereby strengthening the resilience of the U.S. defense industrial base.

THE BIG PICTURE
Powered by the established PAC‑3 fire‑control system, PAC-3 ACE will seamlessly integrate with the Patriot weapon system and the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS). This innovative approach allows for accelerated development, testing, and deployment compared to traditional programs, ensuring a unified interceptor that enhances the PAC‑3 network.

WHY IT MATTERS

  • Cost-effective performance: The PAC-3 ACE significantly reduces the cost-per-kill against a variety of threats while maintaining the reliability associated with PAC-3 and enhancing required magazine depth.
  • Rapid fielding: The interceptor benefits from proven PAC-3 software and IBCS integration, which expedites the development cycles and initial production timelines.
  • Multi-threat coverage: It is engineered to counter a range of threats including airbreathing threats, cruise missiles, and both close-range and short-range ballistic missiles.
  • Allied resilience: Joint development efforts with European partners foster an interoperable interceptor that reinforces transatlantic defense capabilities.

EXPERT PERSPECTIVE
Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, stated, “American and allied warfighters need a solution that is battle-tested and budget-smart, and PAC-3 ACE delivers exactly that by building on the unrivaled performance of the PAC-3 MSE. By partnering with our allies, we enhance resiliency and ensure our forces can effectively counter emerging threats both now and in the future.”
