Lockheed Martin and NATO Allies Accelerate PAC-3® Sustainment Across Europe

ANKARA, Türkiye, July 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Lockheed Martin has announced a significant step forward in NATO’s air defense capabilities with the commitment of the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden to explore the establishment of a dedicated PAC-3® Missile Maintenance Facility in Europe. This joint government-to-government initiative was formalized at the NATO Summit Defense Industry Forum, part of the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara.

The proposed facility aims to enhance NATO’s integrated air and missile defense readiness by providing essential maintenance and sustainment capabilities for PAC-3 missiles, ensuring they remain ready, reliable, and quickly deployable in response to evolving threats.

“Industrial cooperation strengthens the transatlantic defense industrial base and contributes to economic progress and shared security,” stated Jay Pitman, president of Lockheed Martin International. He emphasized Lockheed Martin’s long-standing commitment to being a strategic partner for European defense and security. The company aims to accelerate collaboration with NATO allies and industry partners to boost integrated air and missile defense capacity, fortify regional sustainment networks, and meet the escalating global demand for these capabilities.

The proposed PAC-3 Missile Maintenance Facility is designed to support NATO allies operating the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptors as well as the PAC-3 Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) interceptors. Lockheed Martin brings decades of expertise in missile production, sustainment, engineering, and supply-chain management to support the development of this facility and assist the allied nations dependent on PAC-3 capabilities.

Global demand for the PAC-3 system continues to increase, fueled by its combat-proven performance. In January, a pivotal framework agreement was reached with the U.S. Department of War to triple PAC-3 MSE production capacity. Furthermore, in April, the U.S. government awarded Lockheed Martin a substantial contract worth $4.7 billion to expedite PAC-3 MSE production this year, ensuring that U.S. allies acquire the advanced air and missile defense capabilities necessary to protect critical interests.
