L3Harris Advances Royal Moroccan Air Force C-130 Modernization Program
L3Harris has reached a significant milestone in the modernization program for the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) C-130 aircraft by completing inspections on the first aircraft. This aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance and repairs at L3Harris’ facility in Waco, Texas, which includes the installation of a new standby instrument and a digital engine display upgrade.
The program is gaining momentum as the induction of the second aircraft is scheduled for this fall, with a third aircraft set to follow later this year. This third aircraft will receive a full avionics upgrade, featuring a complete digital cockpit. These developments signal a transition from contract award to active program execution, effectively converting modernization plans into operational capabilities.
The modifications being performed in Waco encompass a range of services, including aircraft modifications, program depot maintenance, engine overhauls, and logistics support. This work is designed to enhance the aircraft’s mission-capable time while reducing maintenance downtime, ensuring the planes remain operational for decades beyond their originally projected service lives.
In July 2025, L3Harris was awarded a multi-year contract to modernize multiple C-130 aircraft within the RMAF fleet. This initiative supports Morocco’s goal of sustaining and upgrading its legacy airlift capabilities, ensuring the aircraft remain mission-ready for the foreseeable future.

This expertise enables L3Harris to provide avionics upgrades that work in conjunction with existing systems, thereby minimizing operational downtime, lowering lifecycle costs, and preserving capabilities throughout the modernization process.
