L3Harris Delivers First VAMPIRE Units to US Army for Drone Defense
MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 13, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has commenced the delivery of VAMPIRETM counter-unmanned systems (C-UxS) to the U.S. Army, enhancing defenses against hostile drone activity. The first units were delivered within two months following the Army’s $106 million order.
The VAMPIRE system is a self-contained weaponry solution designed for advanced reconnaissance and precision strikes against drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles. This technology has already been employed extensively in European combat operations, amassing over 350,000 operational hours since 2023.
“From day one, our team has worked side-by-side with the Army to rapidly field VAMPIRE systems,” remarked Chris Aebli, President of Communications & Spectrum Dominance at L3Harris. “U.S. armed forces are now equipped to reliably defend personnel and vital assets against drone threats.”
In anticipation of the increasing demand for C-UxS capabilities, L3Harris established a dedicated VAMPIRE production facility in Huntsville, Alabama earlier this year, focusing on bolstering the production of the VAMPIRE system.
