Northrop Grumman and Aeronix Launch Joint Investment to Develop Next-Gen Space-Based Cryptographic Systems

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – August 12, 2026 – Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has partnered with Aeronix, Inc., a member of the Aeronix Technologies Group, to establish a multimillion-dollar strategic partnership aimed at advancing the development of cutting-edge space-based cryptographic systems. This collaboration builds on a successful prototype effort that resulted in a space-based mesh networking solution for the Department of War, enhancing secure and resilient data sharing in low-earth satellite orbit networks.

The focus of this partnership will include:

  • Developing advanced cryptographic applications to safeguard data at rest, in transit, and in use aboard space-based defense platforms and networks.

  • Jointly investing in and deploying specialized cryptographic devices to secure classified data within critical mission systems.

  • Rapidly adapting to emerging and future threats through modular, open architecture designs, coupled with continuous technology refresh.

  • Delivering scalable solutions for integration into existing and next-generation platforms, networks, and systems.

Northrop Grumman and Aeronix are combining their expertise in cyber, space, and defense with the advanced cryptology and secure communications capabilities of Aeronix. This collaborative investment seeks to create innovative applications that will significantly enhance the efficiency and security of classified data processing and transmission. The goal is to achieve a five-fold increase in performance, thereby strengthening the protection of mission-critical information in space and across multidimensional environments.
