
Saab invests in Comand AI to strengthen European defence sector
Saab has announced an investment in Comand AI, integrating the latter’s AI-native planning solutions and technical expertise into its research and development ecosystem. This move is aimed at enhancing Saab’s command and control (C2) and C5ISR* capabilities, which include advanced systems like GlobalEye and initiatives for multi-domain C2.

In a statement, Carl-Johan Bergholm, the head of Saab’s business area Surveillance, emphasized the significance of C5ISR systems in modern multi-domain operations, noting that advanced AI is a crucial enabler for future capabilities. He remarked, “By partnering with Comand AI, we are strengthening the development of Saab’s C2 and C5ISR capabilities while bringing Swedish defence expertise and French AI innovation together. This collaboration also underlines the value of European cooperation in support of long-term security.”
This initiative not only fortifies Saab’s collaboration with French industry but also fosters deeper integration within the innovative technology sector in France. It aligns with Saab’s broader commitment to enhancing European sovereignty and contributing to a more resilient and adaptable European defence industry that can develop high-performance capabilities.
The agreement, which is pending approval from regulatory authorities, reflects Saab’s strategic approach to combining internal development with targeted external expertise. This aims to deliver sovereign and scalable solutions for its global customers.
