
Saab receives order for three submarines for Poland
Saab has secured a significant order for three A26 submarines from Poland, marking a strategic advancement in defense capabilities. The A26 submarine is meticulously engineered to thrive in the challenging operational environment of the Baltic Sea, offering unparalleled stealth and remaining undetected during missions. Its capabilities play a vital role in naval Multi Domain Operations, enhancing freedom of movement along with intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance functions.
Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab, expressed gratitude stating, “We are deeply honoured that Poland has chosen Saab’s submarines to bolster its defence capabilities and strengthen the strategic partnership between our two nations. The three A26 submarines meet Poland’s current and future defence requirements and will play a pivotal role in enhancing security in the Baltic Sea region.”
In tandem with the contract, Saab is dedicated to establishing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Poland. This initiative will be pursued in close collaboration with Polish industry, thereby reinforcing Poland’s strategic autonomy.
Additionally, under a separate agreement, Poland will utilize the Swedish submarine HMS Södermanland as a gap filler while the new submarines are integrated into its naval operations.
