KYIV, Ukraine, 1 July 2026 – In a significant move to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities, Airbus Defence and Space has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brave1, the central government-led defense technology coordinator. Brave1 is poised to serve as a joint innovation platform, connecting the country’s ministries, military, and private tech sector, thereby fast-tracking the development of advanced battlefield technologies from concept to deployment.

This partnership represents Brave1’s inaugural industrial strategic collaboration with a Western enterprise. The agreement will see the formation of joint task forces aimed at driving technological projects, which will span from initial scientific research through to the modernization of active equipment. Notably, Airbus Defence and Space’s technologies will be integrated into Brave1’s “Test in Ukraine” framework, allowing for rigorous live frontline co-testing and collaborative evaluation. Operational performance data will be fed back directly into the development cycle, ensuring that immediate security needs are met.

As part of this collaboration, Airbus will also play a vital role at the Defence Tech Valley summit in Lviv, recognized as one of Europe’s largest defense technology gatherings, further cementing its position as a key partner in Ukraine’s defense landscape.

“As we celebrate three years of fostering Ukraine’s defense tech ecosystem, Brave1 is shifting from merely launching startups to creating global industrial alliances under our ‘Brave Prime’ initiative,” stated Iryna Zabolotna, Chief Operating Officer of Brave1. “In today’s Ukraine, research and development timelines are measured in days rather than months or years. Collaborating with a global leader like Airbus enables us to merge their extensive aerospace expertise with our agile, combat-proven R&D methodology. Together, we aim to create faster and more resilient defense solutions for the future of European security.”

Jo Mueller, a member of the Executive Committee of Airbus Defence and Space, commented on the partnership: “Collaborating with Ukraine on defense is fundamentally about enhancing Europe’s collective security. Being selected by Brave1 as a strategic partner within one of the world’s most advanced defense ecosystems is a significant honor for us. We are dedicated to supporting our partners with our extensive experience and expertise in defense aerospace while simultaneously enriching our future capabilities through the remarkable innovation and talent present in Ukraine.”
