American Rheinmetall supplies MK93 softmounts to the U.S. Army
American Rheinmetall’s production facility in Maine is set to manufacture and upgrade thousands of MK93 enhanced softmount systems under a new contract supporting U.S. Army requirements, executed through defense contractor ADS Inc and the Defense Logistics Agency. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2026 and continue through October 2027.
The order encompasses the production of 3,104 new MK93 enhanced softmount systems, along with upgrades to 245 previously delivered mounts, ensuring all systems meet the latest specifications. The total value of the order stands at $20.7 million (€ 18.05 million).
The MK93 enhanced softmount provides a robust, stable, and mission-ready mounting solution for crew-served weapon systems. Its design focuses on reliability, configuration commonality, and long-term sustainment, guaranteeing that U.S. forces are equipped with systems that meet modern operational requirements. This program highlights American Rheinmetall’s commitment to U.S. defense clients through domestic manufacturing and sustainment capabilities.
This order is also a testament to the strong support from Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, who advocates for defense manufacturing in Maine. Her efforts emphasize the significance of maintaining critical industrial capabilities that contribute directly to U.S. military readiness. Senator Collins stated, “American Rheinmetall’s skilled employees in Biddeford are continuing our state’s tradition of manufacturing high-quality, reliable equipment for America’s service members, and I am proud to support their important work. The Army’s purchase of more than 3,000 weapon mounting systems is welcome news for the York County economy and demonstrates the critical role Maine workers play in our national defense.”

American Rheinmetall remains dedicated to supporting U.S. defense programs with domestically produced weapon system components and sustainment solutions. The MK93 enhanced softmount is also available for commercial sale to eligible customers, subject to relevant regulations and export controls.
