A powerful partner at Ukraine’s side
In August 2023, Rheinmetall’s subsidiary, Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH, delivered a comprehensive field hospital to the Ukrainian military, aided by the German Government. This facility includes 32 patient beds, with eight designated for intensive care. Rheinmetall secured the contract for this initiative at the end of 2022.
The field hospital is a combination of tent and container systems, serving as a fully self-sufficient medical care unit that meets NATO’s Role 2 standard. Following the delivery, ten Ukrainian soldiers underwent a 14-day training program focused on the assembly, dismantling, and operation of the mobile field hospital. They promptly returned to their operational area to apply their new skills.
Additionally, in December 2023, Rheinmetall provided a mobile medical station to Ukraine, designed for easy transportation on a truck chassis. A second emergency medical station is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2024. Each of these mobile systems includes a triage unit, diagnostic container, pre-operative preparation area, operating theatre, and an intensive care container.
The Rheinmetall medical systems are instrumental in delivering emergency care and stabilizing soldiers, particularly those with critical injuries, while also addressing the needs of the civilian population across Ukraine. By the close of 2026, Rheinmetall aims to deliver a total of ten field hospitals and train over 100 Ukrainian soldiers from the medical corps.
