Enhanced borescope analytics will strengthen global MRO operations for commercial and military engines
EAST HARTFORD, Conn., July 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of RTX (NYSE: RTX), is enhancing its engine inspection capabilities through the acquisition and integration of Aiir Innovations based in Amsterdam. This AI-assisted borescope software is set to revolutionize inspection processes, increasing consistency and efficiency within worldwide maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations for various engine types, including military and commercial engines.

The newly integrated software utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze borescope video, providing faster and more repeatable assessments. It has already been implemented for commercial clients and MRO providers, greatly reducing inspection durations. The technology has seen successful applications on the V2500 engine, with pilots recently completed on the GTF and F135 engines, and plans are in place to extend its use throughout the organization.
