The firing test took place off the coast of Sinop, after the AKINCI took off from the Çorlu Flight Training and Test Center in Tekirdağ and transited to the designated test area over the Black Sea. The SUNGUR munition launched from the AKINCI achieved a direct hit on the target UAV, showcasing the operational effectiveness of this advanced system. Following the successful completion of the test, the AKINCI returned to Çorlu along its pre-planned route.
AERIAL TARGET STRUCK
The successful engagement of the target adds to the AKINCI’s capabilities, which previously included air-to-air engagements with the KEMANKEŞ 1 AI-Based Mini Cruise Missile and successful strikes with the EREN High-Speed Multi-Purpose Loitering Munition, also developed by Roketsan. With the integration of the SUNGUR, the AKINCI has expanded its munitions portfolio, demonstrating a diverse capability to tackle various aerial threats.
MUNITIONS DIVERSITY IN AIR COMBAT
The Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV has successfully integrated a wide range of munitions, enhancing its layered operational and strike capabilities. The integrated munitions portfolio includes: MAM-L, MAM-L TV, MAM-T, MAM-T IIR/TV, MAM-C, TOLUN family of munitions, TEBER-81, TEBER-82, LAÇİN, LGK-81, LGK-82, HGK-82, GÖKÇE Guidance Kit, GÖZDE Guidance Kit, KGK-82-SİHA, IHA-300 and IHA-230 Supersonic Missiles, TV-seeker and laser-seeker variants of the IHA-122 Supersonic Missile, and the ÇAKIR Cruise Missile. This diverse arsenal equips the AKINCI to effectively engage various target types across different ranges, solidifying its status as a formidable platform in air combat scenarios.
EXPORT CHAMPION
Since its establishment, Baykar has financed all projects solely through its own resources, achieving remarkable success as the world’s largest exporter in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry in 2025. Maintaining its leadership in the global UCAV market for three consecutive years, Baykar achieved an impressive export volume of $2.2 billion in 2025, with around 90% of its revenue derived from international sales, further establishing itself as a major driving force in Türkiye’s high-technology exports.
BAYKAR: THE WORLD’S LARGEST UAV COMPANY
Baykar continues to be recognized as one of Türkiye’s top exporters, placing within the top 10 across all sectors from 2023 through 2025, ultimately earning the Export Champions Award. It has been the foresighted leader in the defense and aerospace sectors according to data released by the Defense Industry Agency (SSB) and the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) for the years 2021 through 2024. In 2023, Baykar alone accounted for one-third of the sector’s exports and contributed a quarter of the total defense and aerospace sector’s exports in 2024, thus significantly elevating Türkiye’s status in the global UCAV export market. Notably, Baykar has secured export agreements with a total of 39 countries, including 36 for the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV and 16 agreements to date for the AKINCI UCAV.
