KONGSBERG to build manufacturing plant in Poland

The new facility will manufacture KONGSBERG’s CUAS solutions for the Polish SAN programme.

According to Eirik Lie, President and CEO of KONGSBERG, “The new facility will support Polish industry and defence capabilities and strengthen KONGSBERG’s presence in Poland. The facility will be an integrated part of KONGSBERG’s global manufacturing network, to serve Poland and other future European customers.”

KONGSBERG plans to set up the new factory in the Pomeranian region, near the Trójmiasto area in Poland. While the specific location has not been disclosed, the investment exceeds 200 million zlotys (approximately EUR 45 million) and is expected to create over 100 long-term jobs once the factory reaches full capacity.

The company aims to finalize the construction contract by the end of the year and initiate construction work shortly thereafter. Serial production is anticipated to commence in the first half of 2028.

Having operated in Poland for over 15 years, KONGSBERG has progressively strengthened its capabilities to meet project demands. This includes the establishment of the Naval Strike Missile sustainment center at WZE and developing various partnerships within the Polish industry. The investment in CUAS systems further cements KONGSBERG’s involvement in Poland and showcases the strong bilateral relationship between Poland and Norway.

In January, KONGSBERG, in collaboration with consortium partner Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), signed a contract with the Polish Armaments Agency for the delivery of Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) to safeguard the nation against emerging drone threats.
