U.S. Navy Selects Boeing for F/A-XX Program

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing (NYSE: BA) a significant multi-billion-dollar contract to develop its new F/A-XX aircraft, which is set to be the Navy’s sixth-generation fighter. This aircraft aims to enhance capabilities through advancements in open mission systems architecture, advanced mission systems, and operational reach and capacity, ultimately set to replace the existing F/A-18 Super Hornets.

Boeing is actively constructing its secure manufacturing facility, which will be the largest in the U.S. Located in St. Louis, this facility will play a vital role in the development of the world’s most advanced all-digital aerospace design and manufacturing system.
