In light of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre’s official visit to Ottawa, KONGSBERG is deepening its strategic alliance with Canada by establishing partnerships with Canadian space leaders. This move follows the bilateral Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed earlier this year.
As part of this initiative, KONGSBERG has entered into key agreements aimed at enhancing technical cooperation and promoting sovereign communications within the space and defense sectors:
- MOU with MDA Space Ltd.: This Memorandum of Understanding establishes a collaborative framework between KONGSBERG and MDA Space Ltd. to explore joint space and defense projects and technical cooperation across various domains.
- LOI with Telesat LEO ULC: A Letter of Intent formalizes the strategic intent to leverage Telesat Lightspeed’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network for integration into KONGSBERG’s defense platforms and solution architectures. This collaboration aims to enhance secure, resilient, low-latency military connectivity for Norway, Canada, and allied nations.
As founding NATO allies and members of the Arctic Council, Canada and Norway are committed to democracy, the rule of law, and the collective security of the High North. As Canada increases its defense spending, KONGSBERG contributes over a century of innovation expertise and a 50-year presence in Canada to support national security priorities.
