Thales and Destinus enter strategic partnership with a view to advance counter-UAS, long-range strike and integrated air defence solutions
Thales and Destinus have formalized their collaboration through a cooperation agreement during Eurosatory 2026, aiming to fortify support for armed forces in Europe and beyond in the domains of long-range strike, counter-UAS, and ground-based air interception. This partnership is set to tackle system integration and scalable production requirements.
In response to rapidly changing threats, this strategic alliance seeks to merge Destinus’ capabilities in interceptor systems and long-range effectors with Thales’ well-established competence in air defense systems, AI for critical infrastructure, and key subsystems beneficial for industrial production. Together, the firms intend to convert their complementary technologies into scalable solutions suitable for high-intensity military operations.
Five key areas of cooperation have been delineated:
- The supply by Thales to Destinus of essential subsystems for interceptor systems and long-range effectors, with examples including military warheads in alignment with NATO standards.
- The collaborative production of the Hornet interceptor system at a facility certified for operations involving pyrotechnical elements.
- The assurance of interoperability between the Hornet family of interceptor systems and Thales’ counter-UAS devices and radars.
- The innovation of long-range effectors deployable from tactical airlift aircraft.
- The enhancement of ground-based air interception capabilities to support future NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defense architectures.
