ASELSAN Unveils LUNA-2: Revolutionizing Space-Aided IoT Technology
ASELSAN, known for its cutting-edge technology in the defense industry, successfully launched its second satellite, LUNA-2, on March 30, 2026. This launch from California, USA, marks a significant milestone in the Space-Based Internet of Things (IoT) initiative.
As the world enters the New Space Age, ASELSAN is dedicated to enhancing Türkiye’s space ecosystem through its national engineering expertise and innovative system solutions. From satellite communication systems to mission payloads and ground control infrastructures, ASELSAN’s diverse range of solutions continually fortifies its strategic foothold in the space sector.
LUNA-2, despite its compact size as a Nano Satellite, has the capability to deliver secure sensor data to even the most inaccessible regions. With its unique communication system (LoRa), it efficiently covers vast areas while consuming minimal energy.
Leveraging National Expertise
The entire lifecycle of LUNA-2—design, development, production, integration, and testing—was executed by ASELSAN. Key components such as the flight software, ground control software, LoRa transceiver card for the payload, and data transmission device were all developed in-house, underscoring ASELSAN’s commitment to a solution based on national capabilities.
The successful deployment of LUNA-2 not only showcases ASELSAN’s expertise in space-based IoT but also significantly contributes to Türkiye’s vision of fostering independent, competitive, and sustainable space technology.
