Story: Shorten the chain of rescue – The Rheinmetall Mission Master saves lives
The Rheinmetall Mission Master is an unmanned vehicle equipped with a “Rescue” mission package designed for medical evacuation operations (MedEvac), contributing significantly to saving lives on the battlefield.
In combat situations, the critical window for saving lives often occurs between the injury and the arrival of medical assistance. The Mission Master utilizes scalable autonomy and high network capability to effectively shorten this chain of rescue.
Many military operations are categorized as 3D tasks—dull, dirty, and dangerous. The deployment of an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) like the Mission Master can mitigate risks to human lives, especially in environments threatened by NBC warfare agents or active conflicts.
The Mission Master Rescue can fulfill roles traditionally reserved for mobile medical teams. In Platooning Mode, it transports injured personnel while integrating medical equipment and connectivity to a medical operator in the lead vehicle. Each vehicle can be tailored with essential medical gear, including respirators, defibrillators, thermal containers, and securing devices.
Additionally, the Mission Master is versatile, supporting various missions with its six available modules:
- Reconnaissance and surveillance
- Transport (mule)
- Protection: Weapon carrier
- NBC detection (for warfare agents)
- Communication relay
- Fire-fighting vehicle
The UGV also features advanced sensors for reconnaissance and is compatible with various protective systems, such as smoke projectors, to safeguard both mechanized and non-mechanized forces.
Thanks to its amphibious capabilities, the Mission Master can navigate water at speeds of up to 6 km/h, and on land, it can reach up to 40 km/h without a significant additional load.
The integration of the Mission Master into operations allows military forces to deploy personnel more effectively by assigning risky tasks to the UGV, thus protecting the health and safety of soldiers.
Dr. Marc Lemmermann, Vice President of Regional Business Development, emphasized the vehicle’s appeal: “The vehicle is so versatile, you have to see it live. It is easy to learn how to operate it and users love it.”
In recent news, the British armed forces have placed an order for four Cargo versions of the Rheinmetall Mission Master, marking a new step in their adoption of advanced unmanned systems.
