Rheinmetall UK and Mercedes-Benz expand Team Wolf

Collaboration combines automotive and defence capability, with Telford confirmed as the Vehicle Integration Centre for Team Wolf

Millbrook, UK – 16 September 2026 – Rheinmetall UK and Mercedes-Benz UK have jointly announced a strategic partnership that fuses proven Mercedes-Benz vehicle technology with Rheinmetall UK’s expertise in defence integration and mission systems. This collaboration will focus on meeting the British Army’s future tactical mobility requirements as part of the Land Mobility Programme. The partnership aims to leverage Mercedes-Benz’s established vehicle base alongside Rheinmetall UK’s military capability to deliver and sustain enhanced operational effectiveness for the UK armed forces.

In a significant move, Rheinmetall’s Telford Facility (RBSL) has been appointed as the Vehicle Integration Centre for Team Wolf, where critical systems integration, testing, and validation of the vehicle capabilities will be conducted.

This newly established capability lays a strong industrial foundation for Team Wolf to meet and sustain the mobility requirements of the British Army effectively.

Global capability. Delivered in the UK.

Central to Team Wolf is a steadfast commitment to deliver and sustain capabilities within the UK. The establishment of the Vehicle Integration Centre at Telford will ensure that essential integration activities are carried out domestically, leveraging the existing expertise, infrastructure, and experience within the British defence engineering sector.

The centre will act as the nucleus for critical systems integration, testing, and validation activities, consolidating the necessary personnel, facilities, and technical expertise required to customize Team Wolf vehicles to meet British Army specifications.

This initiative is geared towards preserving vital skills and knowledge domestically while laying a robust foundation to support, adapt, and evolve military capabilities throughout their operational lifespan.

With Telford already playing a key role in UK land capabilities, including the production of Boxer vehicles for the British Army, the new integration role aligns seamlessly with the established sovereign industrial base.

Investing in British capability

Team Wolf is dedicated to maximizing opportunities for British industry and enhancing the resilience of the UK defence supply chain. The programme aims for up to 50% UK content, creating substantial opportunities for British suppliers and SMEs and bolstering skilled employment across the engineering, integration, and wider supply fields. Rheinmetall has publicly committed to sourcing roughly 50% of its UK tactical vehicle components from domestic suppliers.

Rebecca Richards, Managing Director of Rheinmetall UK, stated:

“Team Wolf represents the synergy of two organizations with complementary strengths and a shared vision for an enduring mobility capability for the British Army. Establishing the Vehicle Integration Centre at Telford is fundamental to achieving this vision. It positions British engineering and skills at the heart of our delivery model, ensuring a solid UK foundation from which we can develop, support, and enhance capability over the long term.”

“This initiative transcends mere vehicle production; it is about fostering sovereign capability and strengthening the UK supply chain while equipping the British Army with the industrial resilience needed for future operations.”

Olivier Reppert, CEO & Managing Director at Mercedes-Benz Cars UK added:

“For more than 45 years, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has symbolized strength, reliability, and adaptability under demanding conditions. Through Team Wolf, we integrate this proven vehicle foundation with our long-term OEM expertise, aimed at addressing the British Army’s future mobility challenges. Together with Rheinmetall UK’s defence integration capabilities, we are poised to create mission-ready solutions with a clear strategy for ongoing support and development.”

The Team Wolf partnership epitomizes a joint dedication to the British Army and the prospects of future UK land mobility. It combines the scale, experience, and investment of two global leaders with a clear focus on delivering long-term value for the UK. Team Wolf is strategically positioned to enhance the capabilities, skills, and industrial capacity necessary to support the Army’s aspirations for many years to come.
