Saab to deliver I-ATS to three airports in Bulgaria

Saab has announced the delivery of its latest Integrated ATC Suite (I-ATS), a versatile and scalable platform designed to equip tower and approach controllers with a comprehensive set of tools for effectively managing air traffic.

The delivery will feature Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control (A-SMGCS) systems for Sofia Airport, along with an updated Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and support for European Common Project One (CP1) requirements. These enhancements aim to future-proof BULATSA’s air traffic control operations at Sofia, Varna, and Burgas airports for years ahead.

“This agreement reinforces the long-standing partnership between Saab and BULATSA, emphasizing our mutual commitment to advancing air traffic management capabilities in Bulgaria. We are eager to continue our collaboration toward safe and efficient air traffic control,” stated Cecilia Larsson, head of Saab Air Traffic Management.

BULATSA serves as the Bulgarian air navigation service provider, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of air traffic within the country’s controlled airspace.
