
L3Harris Advances Production of Proximity Sensors for US Air Force
MELBOURNE, Fla., Sept. 14, 2026 — L3Harris Technologies has secured a contract from the U.S. Air Force, valued at approximately $60 million, to continue the production of its DSU-43/B Cockpit Selectable Height of Burst Sensors (C-HOBS).
This innovative technology enables aircrews to select the specific detonation altitude of munitions, allowing for precise adaptations based on various targets and mission contexts. The sensors are designed to enhance radar-guided performance, featuring manual and cockpit-selectable burst heights along with advanced sensing capabilities.

L3Harris is expanding its capacity for the production of proximity fuzes and sensors to address the increasing demand from the U.S. military for effective, cost-efficient counter-threat solutions. The manufacturing of C-HOBS will take place at L3Harris’ facility in Cincinnati.
